Jerusalem is actually from the old Anglican Hymnal. The hymn has been sung in
Anglican Churches since the days of Queen Victoria.
The music is by Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry. (1848-1918)
Words: William Blake; arranged by Harry Rabinowitz, performed by the
Ambrosian Singers.
This song is also included in this album because it played this name giving role
in the film.

Chariots of Fire on stage (play) is a 2012 stage
adaptation of the 1981 Oscar-winning film Chariots of fire (Director: Hugh
Hudson). The play, which tells the story of two British runners competing at the
1924 Olympic Games, opened at London's Hampstead Theatre 9 May 2012 and
transferred to the Gielgud Theatre in the West End from 23 June until 10
November 2012, was partly inspired by the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Run time: Two hours and 30 minutes with one 20 minute interval.
Vangelis revisited the music he wrote for the
movie in 1981 and composed and recorded new music, especially for this
production.
Eleven tracks on this album where not released before. Three familiar track
titles were taken from the original
movie soundtrack album Chariots
of fire: Chariots of Fire (Titles); Abraham's Theme; Jerusalem. One track
was edited: Eric's Theme.

And did those feet
in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among these dark Satanic mills? |
Bring me my bow of
burning gold:
Bring me my arrows of desire:
Bring me my spear: O clouds unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land. |
